Rooted Essence Co. emerged from a deep-seated concern over the exploitation faced by the frankincense community in Somaliland. Witnessing these injustices firsthand stirred a profound sense of unease, fuelling a passion for change. Thus, our purpose was born: to champion ethical sourcing practices that prioritise fairness and sustainability, ensuring everyone involved is treated with dignity and respect. We advocate empowering local communities and preserving our planet, driven by an unwavering commitment to integrity and social responsibility.

Partnering with women-led cooperatives in Somaliland underscores our dedication to ethical practices and community empowerment. We achieve this by adhering to the standards of the harvesting community and paying the women sorters upfront, who then buy from the harvesters.
